What Products to Use as Seasons Change
As the temperatures cool down and the days get shorter, you may be changing your daily routines and opting for warmer clothing. Those changes you make to feel comfortable in the cooler weather should also extend to your skin care routine. Here are some product swaps and suggestions to keep your skin healthy this fall.
Reach for Creams over Lotions
Lightweight lotions may be your go-to during the warm summer months but when it comes to fall and winter reach for something a bit heavier. Thicker creams provide even more moisture that your skin is searching for by creating a hydrating barrier. For best results, try to put on creams right out of the shower to lock in the moisture.
Try out a Trend
Fall’s trendiest food is also pretty great for your skin. When eaten, pumpkin is a great source of fiber, protein, and other nutrients. Pumpkin can also be found in skin care products and can be used to smooth and exfoliate or brighten up your face. Don’t be afraid to give them a try.
Bring out the Humidifier
Hydration is key for keeping your skin healthy and beautiful. If you don’t have a humidifier, invest in one. It’s best to begin using your humidifier as soon as you switch on the heat in your home to keep skin looking its best.
Keep up the Sunscreen
Just because the sunlight hours have shortened, doesn’t mean you can skimp on the sunscreen. Wearing sunscreen every day not only lowers your chance of skin cancer but it keeps your skin looking younger and healthier too. Make sure your sunscreen is at least SPF 30 though remember that anything over SPF 50 hasn’t been proven to be more effective. Also, don’t forget to drink a lot of water.
