Now that the holidays are behind us, so are the tables full of cookies, cupcakes, bread, and other calorie-filled treats which means that now is the perfect time to set some weight loss goals that you can stick to all year long. But, one of the hardest parts about setting goals— especially weight loss ones— is sticking to them. Luckily, Dr. David A. Schlessinger has a few tips for you to use to help you keep your weight loss goals this year.

Think Long Term

Yes, you can go online and find just about any fad diet that claims to help you lose a lot of weight quickly, but long-term, those kinds of diets just aren’t feasible. When thinking about weight loss goals, think long term. For instance, rather than investing your time in a diet that is based solely on protein shakes and egg whites (something that’s not long-term) try investing your time on a diet that is based on whole foods like whole grains, fruits, vegetables, and lean protein.

Tell Your Friends and Family

One of the absolute best ways to stick to a weight loss goal is to have the proper support system in place. Make sure to tell your friends and family about your weight loss goals so that they can support you— the less isolated you feel, the easier it will be.

Join a Nutrition Group

Here at our office, we provide patients with the opportunity to join our nutrition group which focuses on not only a good diet and exercise, but getting enough sleep, taking good care of your skin, and quitting smoking. Under the care of a professional and with other group members, you will receive customized support to help you achieve your goals time after time.
