3 Ways to Help With Your Nutrition This Summer

With summer here, it’s easy to eat healthier than it is during the colder months. Not only is there more fresh fruits and produce available, but the warm weather tends to make everyone want to exercise more outside and eat better. In addition to joining our nutrition group, we have created a brief list of some things to enjoy this summer and why.

Fish

Although a delicious cheeseburger or hot dog may be calling your name at a barbecue, consider grilling up something that’s healthier for you like fish. Fish, especially salmon, isn’t just something that’s easy to throw on the grill, it’s also filled with omega 3-fatty acids and lean protein. Plus, salmon is easy to season. Add a little bit of fresh lemon and some olive oil, and you’ve got a tasty meal that’s ready to enjoy.

Watermelon

Nothing can make you feel quite as cooled down during the summer like a bowl of fresh ice cream, but the excess fat and sugars aren’t going to do anything for your nutritional health. If you are looking for something sweet to enjoy after dinner, grab a slice of watermelon. Because watermelon contains 92 percent water, it will hydrate you, fill you up, and satisfy your sweet tooth without the extra calories.

Water and More Water

One of the best things that you can do for your body— especially when it gets hotter outside— is to make sure that you stay hydrated. The more water you drink, the fuller you will feel, the fewer toxins you’ll have in your body, and the healthier you will be overall.

Taking good care of your health starts with feeding your body the right fuel it needs. Ready to learn more about nutrition? Join our nutrition group and call our Woodbury office today at (516) 496-2122.
