Treatment Options for the Aging Brow

Have you seen an uptick of interest in the brow area due to an increased use of masks over the past year?

We have seen an uptick in all cosmetic areas. However, with masks and zoom people are particularly interested in rejuvenating the upper face and eyelid area.

How do you typically treat an aging brow (injectables, surgery, etc.)?

For younger people we are able to lift brows with toxin injections.  Wearing the eyebrow depressors allows the eyebrow to lift and gives a brighter more alert appearance.  Injections take a few minutes, the results are seen within a few days with peak effect at 2 weeks and it lasts 3-6 months.  It is important to see an experienced injector to avoid a peaked eye brow or a more heavy appearing brow.

For people that need more than Botox but are not ready for surgery we offer Ultherapy, facetite and thread lifts. Ultherapy uses sound waves to create new collagen and lifts the brows.  The treatment takes about 20 minutes.  Results are excellent and are typically seen 3-6 months after treatment. the treatment lasts 2-3 years.  For patients with deflated brows we can also add dermal fillers in the sub brow area to add more lift.

When it comes to a browlift or forehead lift, is that something you typically couple with other procedures or is it usually stand-alone?

Facetite is a semi surgical procedure that requires a small needle sized incision.  It uses radio frequency to create new collagen which lifts the brow.  There is usually 2-3 days of swelling and results are seen in 3 months and also lasts several years. This can be combined with thread lifts for a more robust lift.

Of course for patients requiring a more substantial lift we can perform a brow lift.  This can be done under local anesthesia or with sedation.  Small incisions are made and using an endoscopic technique the brow can be effectively elevated.  Healing takes a week or so with results typically seen almost immediately. Brow lifts are usually performed in conjunction with an upper eyelid blepharoplasty and lower blepharoplasty to give complete rejuvenation to the upper face.
